Lacey Schwimmer‘s weight loss is a major bummer. Why? Because it is even more pointless than Jessica Simpson’s weight loss. What about Lacey Schwimmer’s diet? Well, there are a few surprises there, more on that in a second.

Sure, some people might argue that Lacey Schwimmer’s weight loss is an example of how even athletes are having a hard time keeping their weight in check, but I would argue that Lacey Schwimmer’s weight loss is just another example of how some people are trying to keep up with arbitrary and often misguided expectations – that is, skinny chicks rule.

Lacey Schwimmer’s diet Having said that, Lacey Schwimmer’s weight loss has at least one positive side – Lacey Schwimmer’s diet has improved, a lot. For example, she does not drink soda anymore. Her breakfast is still a hot mess, but for lunch and dinner she eats lean protein and lots of vegetables.

If you want to know more about Lacey Schwimmer’s diet and how she has lost weight, here is a recent interview with her that has all the details:

How did you feel about all the scrutiny you received last season about your weight? It hurt to have people telling me, “You’re too big!” We are athletes. We have muscles and have to be a certain way.

Was there a point when you told yourself you wanted to lose weight? Every woman in America wants to drop a few pounds. Once the weight started coming off, I started realizing that I looked better.

How did you lose the weight? Dancing every day on tour. I’ve been going since last August.

What are some changes you’ve made to your diet? I took away soda completely and replaced my raspberry yogurt with organic nonfat vanilla yogurt. But if I want to have a cookie or a doughnut, I will have one.

Give a breakdown of your daily meals. For breakfast I have yogurt with granola. For lunch, usually a salad with grilled chicken and lots of vegetables. For dinner I steam veggies and boil chicken or turkey. I have snacks throughout the day, like chocolate or coffee. I love my caffeine!

Cheryl was also criticized for her weight last season. Did that bring you closer? Cheryl and I joked about it all the time. What people were saying about us was silly. She’s so beautiful and talented. Nobody should ever criticize her for anything.

What’s your favorite and least favorite body part? My least favorite would have to be my “thutt” – the part where my butt and thigh meet. I like my stomach. I’ve always had a booty – guys like that a lot!

Other than dance, what is your exercise regimen? I go to the gym and get on the elliptical for about 45 minutes and run as I watch TV. I’m not a person who loves to work out. If you have a distraction, that’s always better.

Do you feel healthier now? I feel more energized. I used to wake up in the morning groggy. Now I get six to eight hours of sleep a night, and I’m ready to go. I like feeling set for the day.

What are some of your tips for people who want to slim down? I personally like to do dance classes or get on the elliptical. But I’d say: Change your diet, be aware of what you are eating, have fun with your workouts and stretch. Your body releases oxygen when you stretch, which releases endorphins.

What do you think made you gain weight in the first place? I tore my meniscus on tour with So You Think You Can Dance and had surgery. I wasn’t able to dance for about three months. I think that is what made me gain weight. I’ve finally started getting back my muscle mass from before my injury. I’m pretty happy about that! [via]
