Hello I have a question. I am a 18 year old high school senior japanese boy and i am 170cm 68kg (Is that fat?) I used to play basketball for my school team but when I became a senior I quit b-ball and never did any sports the whole year.

And I noticed that my belly is like a beer belly and my face is becoming a little round and my butt is becoming bigger now. If I wear clothing, you wont see that I have fat around my body and I look regular though. My body is usually not really a skinny type body and i still had a little fat on my stomach, butt and face when I played basketball and my whole life.

I really want to lose my fat and also build muscles before september when my university starts.  The big problem I’m having is that I want to wear skinnier jeans but my butt is too big so I can’t wear it. (I wear my jeans a little lower than my waist) How can I make my butt smaller.

I dont know any gyms I can go but Im supposed to get one of the big weights which you lift up from a friend and theres a big park where you can run near my house. Is being fat something to do with taking a lot of carbohydrate? Because I am Japanese and I eat plenty of rice everyday.

I would be really helpful if you could tell me tips to lose my fat around my belly, butt and face! Sorry if my english is a little bad. Oh by the way I live in germany. Makoto. [via Ask Questions]

To answer your question about carbs, yes, eating too many carbohydrates can make you overweight. If you eat too much fat or protein, you will gain weight as well. It is not fair to single out carbs, but it is true that simple carbohydrates (the ones found in white rice, white bread, sugar, pastries, etc.) can make you hungrier than, say, protein.

So, while carbs and protein contain the same amount of calories (1 g of protein or carbs = 4 calories), I bet you would want to eat sooner after eating a pastry than a steak, which is why diets that are high in carbohydrates usually end up higher in total calories.

That said, I do not think it is a good idea to avoid carbs, you just need to eat a balanced diet that contains complex carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats.

As for losing belly fat, face fat or butt fat – just like a good diet – your body needs to be in balance to work properly, which means that you cannot lose just face fat or just belly fat. When you lose weight, your overall body fat percentage gradually decreases, but there is no way to naturally lose just belly fat, you have to lose overall weight.
