I’m not sure why so much attention is being devoted to Carrie Underwood’s weight, but many magazines are going crazy over Carrie Underwood’s weight loss. Personally, I think she looks awesome and healthy. Here’s what they report:

Star: Carrie Underwood Drops 27 Pounds!

When 2005 American Idol Carrie Underwood, 24, returned to the show on March 8, fans noticed there was less of the country crooner. A vocal vegetarian, Carrie credits her diet for helping her slim down from a size six to a two.

“My meals usually consist of veggie burgers or veggie hotdogs,” the singer says. While we think she looks great, not everyone agrees.

“She looks 10 to 15 pounds lighter than a girl her height should be,” weight-loss specialist Dr. Stanley Title tells Star. “But she’s fine unless she’s depriving her body of nutrients.”

In Touch: Carrie Underwood Is So Thin.

She’s 30 pounds slimmer than when she was on Idol. Will she stop now?

When former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood returned to the show’s stage on March 8, viewers were surprised by how skinny she looked.

Since winning the competition two years ago, the 5’3″ singer has lost an estimated 30 pounds, and fans hope she doesn’t go too far.

Nutritionist Majid Ali thinks her current weight of about 110 pounds is not unhealthy yet, “but if she starts to go any lower (another 5 to 7 pounds), it could get dangerous.”

However, Carrie’s rep tells In Touch that there’s been no dramatic weight loss: “She’s no thinner now than she has been in die last few months.” A vegetarian, Carrie eats healthy (vegetables, fruits and veggie burgers) and she even bans junk food from her tour bus.

Life & Style: Is Carrie Getting Too Thin?

She’s crash-dieting – and shedding pounds so fast that even Simon’s worried! When Carrie Underwood walked onstage to perform on the March 8 episode of American Idol, there were cheers – and gasps.

“Carrie looked stunning after losing nearly 20 pounds last year,” says an industry insider. “But somehow she’s managed to lose even more weight in the past three months.

Everyone’s jaw hit the floor. Not much can leave Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Ryan Seacrest speechless, but even they didn’t know what to say after seeing how thin Carrie has become.

But Simon wasn’t tight-lipped backstage. “Simon approached Carrie later and told her that she looked every inch the star,” says the insider. “But he also told her not to go overboard and that she doesn’t need to diet anymore.”

But at this point, Carrie, 24, may not be able to stop. Though Carrie’s rep denies such a dramatic weight loss, the insider claims the 5-foot-31/2 singer dropped 10 pounds – going from a size 14 to a size 10 – before she started on Idol in 2005, and now she’s down to a size 2!

“Carrie has lost too much weight too fast,” says the insider. “She eats like a bird now [her rep denies it]. It seems like she hardly puts a morsel into her mouth.”

And the pressure’s on to keep losing. Contestants on American Idol are often criticized for their appearance. “The more you hear that kind of negative reinforcement, the more you want to lose weight,” notes Dr. Ira Sacker, an eating-disorder specialist who does not treat Carrie.

“You become competitive. Nobody asks for an eating disorder, but brain chemistry changes as you lose weight, and you can become preoccupied with it to the point of becoming obsessed.”

Can Carrie Underwood stop losing weight?

The insider says everyone’s still wowed by Carrie’s transformation – for now. “But she’s still dieting, and she says she still feels fat,” says the insider. “I’m concerned that she just might not know when to stop.”
