What does it take to reach your weight-loss goal? First of all, you need to make sure that you have a realistic weight-loss goal in mind. Trying to lose weight in a record time is not a good idea. Have you ever tried to lose 10 pounds in 3 days? Have you succeeded? Probably not, right? Why? Because it is an unrealistic weight-loss goal.
Second, you need to know how to lose weight and which weight-loss tricks are actually useful, and which are useless and counterproductive. The sugar detox, for example, can help you lose weight. Why? Because it eliminates empty calories from your diet and stabilizes your blood sugar levels. Drinking a lot of ice water, on the other hand, is mostly useless.
But what else do you need to know to increase your chances of reaching your weight-loss goal? Here are some of the things that I think are important to keep in mind.
Why? People want to lose weight for a number of different reasons. Why do you want to lose weight? What are you trying to accomplish? Write it down. When you feel a little down and need a motivational boost, read what you have wrote down.
Ask your doctor If you are not sure whether or not you need to pay more attention to exercise or eating better, ask your doctor or a certified nutritionist.
Aim for simple goals Do not make things harder by setting complicated goals. Trying to lose weight and gain muscle mass at the same time is an example of what not to do. Focus on one thing; get it done, and then move on to something else – i.e., reach your target weight first and only then try to get toned.
Find a buddy Sometimes it is easier to get things done when you have someone else who wants to accomplish the same thing. Try to find a family member or a friend who wants to lose weight and get in shape. You can motivate and help each other. It is more fun to go for a walk or to the gym with a friend.
Checklist As you each your goals cross them off the list and challenge yourself by setting new goals, but be realistic. Take your time and be patient. The most important thing is not to do something that can get you injured.
