Valerie Bertinelli has lost 40 pounds by following the Jenny Craig program. According to some sources, however, she has lost 50 pounds. In any case, she claims that her current weight is 132 pounds, which sounds plausible, assuming her latest cover was not photoshopped.

I am talking about Valerie Bertinelli in a bikini, she seems to be around 130 pounds in that photo, don’t you think? In any case, here is an update on Valerie Bertinelli’s weight loss, workout, diet, and how she keeps the weight off.

How do you feel at this weight? It’s weird. That fat girl is still in my head sometimes. I think that’s why Jenny Craig’s new campaign, Ideal Size, is such a great program. It really isn’t about a number on the scale, it’s about feeling comfortable in your body.

You were a size 14 when you became a Jenny spokesperson in March 2007. What is your ideal size now? With the way designers size things now, I can wear anywhere from a 4 to a 10.

Do you plan on losing any more weight? It depends on where this new workout program takes me. If it means I lose weight, great. If it means I just tone up, that’s great, too. It’s not about the weight on the scale anymore; it’s about how strong I can make myself. Now that I have a body that can actually move, I want to see what I can do, especially before I hit 50.

What is your new workout program? It’s weight work and circuit training, 35 to 45 minutes a day. I’m learning how to jog – they’ve got me on a soft jog for six minutes, then I do some circuits. I’m interested in toning and taking care of my bones.

How hard has it been to keep the weight off? Surprisingly easy. I’ve always gained the weight back – always! This is the first time I’ve gone a year and I’m still 40 pounds down. Wow!

What do you eat on a given day now? Breakfast is egg whites and a slice of turkey bacon. For lunch, maybe Jenny’s Gumbo soup. Dinner, I’ll have Jenny’s spaghetti and meatballs. I prefer to be on Jenny, even though I don’t have to be.

You don’t make your own meals? I’ll have meals on my own all the time. It’s mainly about portion control. Most steakhouses have an 8-oz. steak; we’re supposed to have 3 to 4 oz., so I ask them to cut it in half for me. If I want dessert, I have two or three bites and then step away. By the third bite you’ve gotten the taste of it anyway. It’s all about staying aware. [via]
