Madonna’s Workout: Power PlateAccording to some media reports, thanks to The Power Plate, Madonna is in the best shape of her life. And she is not alone, allegedly Claudia Schiffer and Natalie Imbruglia are also enjoying remarkable benefits of the “miracle” Power Plate machine.

If we were to believe the claims, Madonna’s workout on this vibrating platform should only be 10 minutes long. Wait; actually, Madonna’s workout would not be a workout at all, because the Power Plate eliminates the need to workout.

Instead of weight training and cardio, the company claims that you can burn considerably more fat and reduce cellulite if you train on the Power Plate for 10 minutes three times a week.

There are also claims that exercising on Power Plate increases testosterone, human growth hormone and serotonin levels. There is just one problem – very little scientific evidence to back up any of these claims.

So can you expect to look in your late 40s as good as Madonna does if you use the Power Plate? If you follow a strict diet and exercise regime, I suppose it is possible.

Of course, Madonna’s workout and diet are strict. Does she look fit and healthy because she exercises for only 10 minutes on a vibrating platform? I very much doubt that.

It is known that Madonna’s workout lasts approximately 2.5 hours a day. She attributes her great physique to weight training, Ashtanga yoga, swimming and Pilates. But what about my personal experience with the Power Plate?

As I mentioned in August, I had an opportunity to spend some time with the Power Plate machine. I had to modify my workouts, because it is not designed to handle large weights, or the majority of weight training exercises I would usually do.

I cannot say I have experienced any strength or performance improvements. The Power Plate is clearly not a substitute for traditional weight training or cardio exercises. However, as far as recovery goes, it could be helpful.

My muscles seemed to recover better. Because of my old shoulder injury – I am often sore in my left shoulder – but after a few sessions on the Power Plate, I felt as if I never had a problem with my shoulder. In addition, my overall rate of recovery seemed a bit faster.

Other than that, I would not count on it to burn more fat, increase strength, or reduce cellulite.
