Who does not want to have great abs? We all do. What does it take to develop great-looking abdominal muscles? Two things: low body fat percentage and a good set of abdominal exercises. The common misconception about abs is that you need to do as many crunches as possible every day. People also seem to think that doing crunches, or some other exercises, can make your abs more visible even if your body fat percentage is relatively high.

None of it is true. For your abs to be visible, your body fat percentage has to be low. How low? 10 to 12 percent low. The lower the better. In addition, exercising your abdominal muscles every day is actually counterproductive. Your abs are not different from any other muscles – i.e., they need time to recover, which is why you only need to train them no more than two or three times a week.

So which exercises are the best for your abs. Enter BOSU. If you want to safe time and give your abs the best workout possible, you only need to do three exercises: BOSU Crunch, BOSU Plank and BOSU Side Plank. BOSU is really a great find because it does not cost much and also because it puts said exercises on a different level of effectiveness.

Unlike doing the crunch on a floor, doing it on BOSU stretches your abdominal muscles, which makes the exercise much harder to do. If you can do 10 floor crunches, you will probably be able to do only 5 BOSU crunches, so you do not need to do as many crunches while your abs work twice as hard. The technique for doing BOSU planks is the same as floor planks, but you put your legs on BOSU, which created a greater elevation and makes these exercise much more effective.

The all-new 2011 Jetta comes nicely equipped at a surprising new price. Which means, German engineering, more rear legroom, enough trunk space for just about anything and, above all, more looks from everybody on the road. It’s great. For the price of good. Discover more at vw.com.
