There is plenty of debate about how good a low-fat diet is. A study completed by Dr. Christine L. Pelkman, assistant professor of nutrition at the University at Buffalo, found a moderate-fat diet, rich in mono-unsaturated fats resulted in a better blood cholesterol profile.

“A low-fat diet can raise your triglycerides and reduce your good cholesterol (the high density kind),” says Pelkman.
