Denis Richards tells OK! how she’s staying fit and feeling better than ever.
What’s the best part about exercising? I feel healthy and strong, and I love how I feel mentally and physically. This is the first season in a long time that I have felt comfortable on the beach without a sarong covering my bottom.
Do you find that stress causes your weight to fluctuate? Stress definitely affects my weight. I’m thinner when I’m stressed or have a lot going on.
With such a busy schedule, is it difficult to find the time to exercise? No, because it’s part of my lifestyle. I don’t work out only when I’m preparing for a project or shoot or bikini season.
Exercising is part of my routine. I try to do it five days a week for an hour. That’s an hour of time to myself, unless the girls come in, but that’s okay too. That’s the luxury of working out at home.
What will you hope to instill in your daughters about body image? I will try to teach my daughters to love their body. Sami was looking at Lola and said, “Wow, look at Lola’s big belly,” and I told Sami that Lola has a beautiful belly. Now, Sam tells her sister her belly is beautiful.
Who do you think has the best body in Hollywood? Demi Moore still has the best body in Hollywood!
Denis Richards’ Workout
Pilates power I have a Pilates trainer, Mari Pratt. I invested in getting my own Pilates reformer so that I can work out at home. But there are many mornings where Mari and I are in my Pilates room, and the girls come walking in with their oatmeal. Mari has had the big challenge of adjusting the exercises with my girls climbing on me.
Tone up My favorite part of my body is my arms. They get an extra workout carrying my girls all the time. My least favorite part of my body is my butt – I wish it were higher!
On a roll With bikini season here, we’ve been focusing more on my tush and abs. I need to do more cardio because I have been doing just Pilates. I’m very active with the girls, but it’s time for me to get back on the elliptical or power walk! [via]
