Lunch To include all the Zone essentials, top a leafy green salad with 3 oz. of sliced grilled chicken, grated Parmesan cheese and a cup of sliced strawberries. Pre-packaged salads are also safe, but make sure to get the dressing (low-fat vinaigrette) on the side.
Snack Prevent the mid-afternoon sleepies by noshing on 24 protein-packed peanuts or a filling ZoneBar. To satisfy a sweet tooth, pair an apple with a 1-oz. chunk of low-fat cheese. Going to happy hour? It’s perfectly fine to ditch the apple for a glass of red wine.
Dinner Wrap up the day with a heart-healthy serving of grilled fish (chock-full of omega-3 fatty acids) over veggies. Remember to use about 1 tsp. of olive oil for flavor. If a drive-through is the only option, try a cheeseburger (without the bun) and have a fruit cup instead of french fries.
