Workout Hunger

Workout hunger? What is that? No, I am not talking about your desire to workout. What I am taking about is this: Does working out make you hungrier?
Despite your post-gym cravings, the answer is no. In a recent study at the University of Chile, people who exercised three times a week for 90 days had twice the levels of an appetite-suppressing protein in their blood than non-exercisers and consumed 300 fewer calories a day.
“People tend to eat after a workout either because they think they deserve it as a reward for a job well done or because they believe they have to refuel,” says Henry Anhalt, D.O., a spokesman for the Endocrine Society.
“But unless you did a long or super-intense session – or started on an empty stomach – you do not need to eat afterward.” So do not make a beeline for the snack bar apres workout; wait until hunger kicks in before you start noshing. [source: Shape]
