Wii Fit Weight Loss

Wii Fit, weight loss – what is the connection between the two? Or maybe a better question is: Is there a connection between Wii Fit and weight loss? And here is another important question – assuming there is a connection between Wii Fit and weight loss – does this gadget replace regular exercise?
So, let’s say you are well aware of how to lose weight and how to maintain weight loss, but maybe you still need to lose a few more pounds, should you become the fan of Wii Fit?
Wii Fit comes with a Balance Board that connects wirelessly to your Wii console and a disc including more than 40 engrossing activities. With games that involve aerobics, Hula-hooping and ski jumps, the whole family can get involved. Playing is a great alternative to vegging out on the couch during long commercial breaks.
And consider this, when your hands are busy with Wii remotes, they are not digging into your favorite TV snack. So all around, it is a useful addition for your home or office.
Still, according to Harley Pasternak, the creator of the 5-Factor Diet, Wii Fit “is not a replacement for exercise. It gets you up and moving, but you should still get in regular cardio sessions.” No surprise there, using Wii Fit is certainly better than not doing anything at all, but a proper workout is more focused and is likely to produce better results.
Wii Fit and weight loss To make a long story short, Wii Fit is not a magic weight-loss aid. Keep using it, of course, just remember that your main focus should be on what you eat and how often you exercise. That said, here are five reasons to use Wii.
1. Variety The game features a lot of exercises, more than 40 exercises, in fact.
2. Balance There are few ways to improve your equilibrium, but these board-based techniques help.
3. Endurance and strength The challenges increase your aerobic capacity and maybe even muscle mass.
4. Social Playing games is a great activity you can do with the rest of your family. Have a Hula-hoop contest after dinner.
5. On track The game keeps tabs on your progress and rewards it: The more you play, the more games you have access to. [via]

After a few years of disappointing gym memberships and food plans, I bought a Wii and Wiit Fit. I started using it Nov. 2, 2008 in hopes of avoiding another 5-7 lb. permanent gain over the holidays. On the first night, it told me I was obese, not merely overweight. That really annoyed me–no way!! Since then I missed maybe six or seven days of using it. Currently I’ve gone 19 weeks without missing. I went from obese to overweight to normal. By yesterday, on May 2, 2009 I had gone from 233 pounds to 176 pounds, not quite 60 in six months. My doctor is amazed. He also took me off blood pressure meds, since my BP is now 90/63 and resting heart rate is 45. My pants size went from 40 to 33, soon to be 32. I gave away most of my clothes and got a whole new wardrobe. The only other changes I made were not eating lunch at fast food joints and replacing fried foods with fresh. The Wii Fit has been a lifesaver for me.
