Why Excess Weight Matters

The following conditions are related to excess weight:
- High blood pressure
- Cholesterol problems
- Type 2 diabetes
- Heart disease
- Stroke
- Gallbladder disease
- Osteoarthritis
- Sleep apnea and respiratory problems
- Some cancers (endometrial, breast, colon)
As you can see, there are many nasty diseases linked to excess weight. It does not mean you should obsess over your weight, but if you are overweight, think about losing unnecessary pounds.
If you are not overweight, keep an eye on the scale, a few pounds up or down does not mean anything, but if you see a consistent weight increase, it may be a sign of an unhealthy weight gain.
