Whole Grain Breakfast Cereal

Whole Grain Breakfast Cereal

Starting the day off with whole-grain cereals may lower the long-term risk for heart failure, a new study finds. However, while there are many whole-grain breakfast cereals on the market today, just because they contain whole-grains does not make them healthy.

According to the study, the benefits of whole-grain cereals aren’t linked to refined breakfast cereals. In addition, a whole-grain breakfast cereal packed with sugar is not likely to provide the same heart benefits as a sugar-free version.

Before purchasing, remember to look at the ingredients label: A whole grain (oats or whole wheat) should be the first ingredient.
