What to Do to Prevent the Flu

The flu season is basically here. Do you know what to do to prevent the flu? First, let’s get some misconceptions and popular myths out of the way. Since the flu is invisible to the naked eye, it is virtually impossible to avoid it if you have been exposed to it. You cannot avoid what you cannot see. Now, there are a lot of supplements out there that claim they can prevent or even cure the flu. The claims they make is a complete nonsense.
If it were as simple as taking some supplement, we would not be talking about this subject today. Most of these supplements are a waste of money, and some of them are potentially dangerous. So what can you do to reduce your chances of catching the flue? The following steps are practical and easy to implement.
Wash your hands Your hands come in contact with germs throughout the day. The best way to get rid of them is by washing your hands thoroughly for about 20 to 30 seconds. If you cannot wash your hands, use a hand sanitizer, but do not abuse it. Some scientific studies seem to show that germs can mutate and become resistant if a hand sanitizer is used too often.
Get enough rest Not getting enough sleep can weaken your immune system. You always want to have your immune system in top shape, but especially during the flu season you do not want to have your immune system compromised, which brings me to my next point – i.e., make sure that you get at least eight hours of sleep each night.
Exercise It does not take much to find at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise into your day (for example, brisk walking for 30 to 40 minutes, three to four times a week) could help support your immune system. Regular exercise increases circulation, which in turn oxygenates your body, purging toxins through sweat and releasing tension and stress.
Stay hydrated While you do not need to drink water if you are not thirsty – and just in case you are wondering, you also do not necessarily need to drink eight to 10 8 oz. glasses of water each day – it is important to stay hydrated.
