Watermelon Juice: Calories in Watermelon

Watermelon Juice: Calories in WatermelonContinued from Carbs in Watermelon: Sugar in Watermelon.

How many calories are in watermelon? Should you drink watermelon juice?

Watermelon does not contain a lot of calories. One serving of watermelon (100 grams) contains only 30 calories, but it does contain a rather high amount of carbs and sugar.

Watermelon juice is not a health drink As for watermelon juice, I think you should stay away from it, unless you think that drinking water full of sugar is somehow good for your health. Any fruit juice – and I do not see how watermelon juice is any different – contains nothing but sugar.

Sure, if you make watermelon juice yourself, it should not contain any added sugar, but the sugar that comes from your watermelon is still sugar. To make a glass of watermelon juice, you need to a lot of watermelon. Since there is 6 grams of sugar in one serving of watermelon, you probably need at least 10 servings to make a glass of watermelon juice.

How much sugar does a glass of watermelon juice contain? A lot! Forget about calories in watermelon – assuming you need 10 servings to make one glass of juice – one glass of watermelon juice contains 60 grams of sugar. That is more sugar than in 8 fl oz. of Coca-Cola.

All of which brings me to a very uncomfortable conclusion. As insane as it sounds, if you are trying to keep your carbohydrates intake reasonable, it seems that it makes more sense to drink Coca-Cola than watermelon juice.

    Hiya

Watermelon juice also has a lot of vitamins and mierals which our body requires. Coco cola has only sugar so its calories are empty calories.

If given a choice it is always better to drink fruit juice rather than soft drinks.

    Thank you

10 servings of watermelon to make 1 cup of juice? Are you sure about that? Watermelon contains a LOT of ummm… water. Depends on your definition of “serving” as well, but it seems like 10 servings would make a PITCHER of juice.

This article seems like it was written by a school child ?! Watermelon,or any type of fruit or vegetable juice would be a better choice than soda. Fruit and vegetable juices contain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, nutrients our bodies need. Soda does NOT. I think this article is giving bad information.

This article is stupid and plain nonsense. Watermelon juice can be good for anyone and does not need 10 servings to make it.

He was only talking about the sugar and the carbs so from that aspect it might be better to drink coca-cola, But yes coca-cola does not have vitamins or minerals……common sense people..use it!!

I lost around 6-7 pounds in 2 weeks just by drinking one glass of watermelon juice everyday. This is in addition to eating a proper breakfast which includes tea and oatmeal, lunch with lean chicken or fish with salad and for dinner – smoothies, watermelon juice or other natural fruit juices. If you make waterlemon juice yourself which is very easy, I agree it wont have many calories and natural sugar is good for you! Just avoid drinking store bought fruit juices, they have preservatives and lots of sugar which isnt good for losing weight!
