Have you ever wondered how to walk for weight loss? Maybe you have, maybe you have not, but what many people do not seem to realize is that if you are overweight and need to lose some weight, walking is better than jogging.

Some would argue that jogging burns more calories and therefore, for weight loss purposes, it is better to jog than to walk. It is a nice theory that seems to make sense, or does it?

As it turns out, according to a new study, walking on a treadmill set at an incline at 3 mph is equal to jogging on a regular surface.

And there is something else; if you are overweight, you are stressing your knees even if you just walk. When you run on a hard surface or even if you run on a soft surface like sand – which is hard to do, so you are probably not going to do it anyway – you are literally pounding your joints, which can quickly lead to an injury.

So walk for weight loss, and do not worry about burning more calories while running.
