Vitamin D Deficiency Could Be Deadly

Vitamin D deficiencyVitamin D deficiency is no laughing matter. It can lead to a number of nasty health problems. Arguably, the most feared of all, is the big C, otherwise known as cancer.

Not that long ago - several credible studies correlated Vitamin D deficiency with multiple sclerosis, colon, lung and breast cancer - but some experts remained skeptical. It seems all that is about to change.

Supplementing with just 450 international units (IU) of vitamin D reduces the risk of pancreatic cancer by 43 percent, according to a recent study.

I think what this study found is very important, but is it impressive? I always thought it was just a matter of time until vitamin D deficiency is linked with yet another type of cancer.

However, what seems to be impressive is that because of this study, a skeptic has been converted to a believer.

According to the same article, “I’ve been converted from a skeptic about a role of vitamin D in preventing cancer to a believer that there’s something there.” For American Cancer Society official, that is a lot to say.

Adequate vitamin D intake is obviously important. All they (American Cancer Society) need to do now is to reconcile their position on sun exposure and vitamin D supplementation – because it seems confusing to many people.
