Tyra Banks’ Weight Loss: Tyra Banks Lost 30 Pounds
Tyra Banks’s weight loss is quite impassive. In just six months, Banks lost 30 pounds by eating healthy and exercising. What a “novel” approach! Tyra’s current weight is estimated to be around 140 pounds.
Life & Style is reporting that in order to lose weight, the 5-foot-10 Banks has switched her old food habits for better choices like fruits, vegetables and protein, which rev her metabolism and keep hunger at bay.
“It’s more of a lifestyle change than a diet,” says an insider. Tyra starts the day with an energy-packed meal of eggs and papaya slices or a bowl of whole-grain cereal and fruit, says the insider – that’s a far cry from her old IHOP breakfasts.
Another strategy is portion control. For lunch and dinner, she eats a serving of lean protein (chicken, shrimp or fish) with veggies, salads and soups she makes herself. Finally, she snacks on fruits and vegetables that satisfy her sweet tooth and keep her feeling full.
“Backstage at the show, the craft-service table is now entirely absent of junk food and carbs,” says Marcellas Reynolds, a frequent guest on The Tyra Banks Show. “All you see are lean turkey sandwiches and loads of fresh-cut veggies and fruit.”
Surprisingly though, Banks’ rep denies any weight loss, but Tyra says she avoided overeating at home by keeping a preplanned menu of freshly made dinners prepared by a private part-time chef for the first few weeks of her diet program.
According to the same source, Tyra has more time now to focus on exercise component of her weight-loss plan. Not only is she consistent with her daily one-hour cardio sessions (which include intervals of walking and running outside), she’s also turned to Martin Snow, the owner of NYC’s Trinity Boxing Club.
“She responds very well to exercise,” Snow says about Tyra’s thrice-weekly hour-and-a-half sessions of boxing, core work and unconventional moves like swinging a sledgehammer and running with an open parachute around her waist. “She’s not afraid to go to the park and have people look at her like she’s crazy.”
But Tyra does believe in cheating on her diet once in a while with her favorite foods, which include barbecue and ice cream. “She believes in treating herself on the weekends. She allows herself a bowl of her favorite ice cream on Saturdays,” says an insider.
“She wanted to lose weight, not so that she would look sexier, but so she would feel healthier.” [via]

Tyra looks absolutely STUNNING! Even though 30lbs may not seem like a lot, it is the same battle to lose like those who are obese. I have 30lbs of excess weight that I’ve been battling with for about 7 years and I hate it so much. It makes me depressed and when you feel that way, it feels impossible to do. I heard that if you are overweight more than 5 years, you’re never gonna lose the weight. I think don’t believe that at all. Tyra didn’t surprise me losing the weight, she was a supermodel for years and I’m sure she knows what it’s like to get and stay in shape. Tyra, I’m not saying that it was easy for you, but I knew that you would lose it eventually. You look amazing and I’m compelled even more to try again and persevere this time.

Tyra looks more beautiful, more natural with her own hair. Good for her and for her health. Just like that is ok. Don’t lose more weight otherwise you would look sick. Congratulations!

Tyra lost weight to make herself feel better. No woman likes to be called fat. Obviously she’s not as strong as she says she is. Healthy my ass. No girl wants to be healthy. She wants to be sexy.

Tyra always looked good; she’s a tall woman with a substantial body frame, so she’s always carried her weight well. I love that her approach to her new eating and exercise habits was a plan for better health rather than weight loss. That is what doctors and dieticians say produces the best long-term results; when people focus more on how they feel rather than the number on the scale they tend to lose more weight, gain greater muscle mass, and maintain their healthier bodies. Although I’m thin (medically speaking), I still like to eat right and exercise because I always feel better when I do. I was a bit lax about exercise for a while, but after not quite a week of being really consistent my husband saw me in my bikini and told me he could see a difference already. Hey, that’s all the motivation I need!
