Tilapia Is Unhealthy

Eating fish containing high levels of omega-3 fatty acids reduces the risk of heart attack and heart-related sudden death. The risk of heart disease decreases by 7 percent for every 20 grams of fish consumed per day. This information has caused explosive growth in the fishing industry. Unfortunately, people are gravitating toward less-healthy farmed fish, such as tilapia, because they are inexpensive.
A recent study found that tilapia is unhealthy because it contains high levels of omega-6 fatty acids, which may cause heart disease, cell aging and blood vessel damage. The reason you want to eat fish is because it contains high levels of fish oil (a.k.a. omega-3 fatty acids), but farmed tilapia contains less omega-3s than other fish.
The bottom line Eat fish, it is good for you, as long as you choose the one that contains high levels of healthy fat; think sardines, salmon, tuna, mackerel, trout, and herring.
