Dieting can be a bit like joining a club – and the person offering an edible version of the secret handshake is weight-loss coach Stephen Gullo.

His coveted list of the most unexpected perfect diet foods is shared by people in the know and can save hundreds of calories each day.

“The key to losing weight isn’t deprivation,” Gullo says. “It’s finding light versions of your favorite foods.” Here are a few of his favorites:

House Tofu Shirataki Noodles “You can add a tablespoon of cheese and tomato sauce to these for the same calories as a snack,” Gullo says.

GG Bran Scandinavian Crispbreads with Laughing Cow Light Gourmet Cheese Bites Four of these crackers with cheese amount to just 100 calories and satisfy your 4 p.m. hunger.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Delight ExtendBars “These are the Rolls Royce of bars,” Gullo says. “They’re 150 calories, and they keep your appetite in check.”

Damascus Bakeries High Grain Flax Wrap “They’re high in fiber,” Gullo says, “so they fill you up and have about half the calories of most wraps.”
