The Secret to Losing Weight
The secret to losing weight successfully is having enough variety to keep you interested, says Melainie Rogers, R.D., a dietitian in New York City. Here, she addresses some common diet complaints.
I always have the same salad for lunch. “Do some research online to find five or six new meal ideas that suit your calorie goals,” says Rogers. A tuna sushi roll or veggie-based sandwich, for example, may slide easily into the rotation.
Popcorn and apple slices – ugh! Aren’t there any other healthy snacks? You can nibble on anything you like, provided your portion contains 100 to 200 calories. Of course it’s best to have a snack with a little fiber and protein, but treat yourself to a “fun food” once in a while.
Rogers suggests trying some of the new 100-calorie packs, like Oreos or Wheat Thins, or a 130-calorie Pria energy bar. [via]
