The Fast Food Diet Book
The Fast Food Diet book – not to be confused with the “Fast Food Diet” by Jorge Cruise – is yet another attempt to show us how to make smart fast food choices. The book promises to reveal how anyone can lose weight, while eating at McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, Wendy’s and other fast-food restaurants.
The Fast Food Diet is written by Dr. Steve Sinatra, M.D., – a board-certified cardiologist, a certified nutrition and anti-aging specialist. The motto of this book is “Lose Weight and Feel Great Even If You’re Too Busy to Eat Right” – - watch out ‘Super Size Me’.
In addition to “The Fast-Food Diet Restaurant-by-Restaurant Guide” and other useful information, you will find inspirational stories of people who despite eating their favorite fast food lost a staggering amount of weight.
One college student dropped 245 pounds in one year eating nothing but Subway sandwiches. A construction worker, who ate at McDonald’s lost 37 pounds in ninety days.
Sounds impossible? – - perhaps, but according to The Fast Food Diet, all you need to do to lose weight is to say “goodbye” to 500 calories from your daily meals. If you can do that, you will lose a pound a week, which could leave you 50 pounds lighter a year later.
Thankfully, fast food is so calorie dense, that eating less of it is not that challenging. It is all about knowing what to eat. And this is where The Fast Food Diet comes in.
Although personally, I would rather see you eating a good steak with broccoli, I cannot help but give credit to the pragmatism of Dr. Steve Sinatra. He says:
Let’s face it; some people just love fast food. We love the taste. We love the convenience. We love the price. Some of us have been eating it since we were kids. [...] Today, I’m a cardiologist and my job is fixing some of that artery damage I handed out in my teens.
But don’t think this is another one of those fire-and-brimstone sermons about the evils of fast food. [...] Nutritionists and health experts have been condemning fast food for the last decade or so, and it hasn’t made much of a difference. [...] It’s time for a different approach and a more practical strategy.
Who can argue with that? And a practical strategy is exactly what you get from this book.
The Fast Food Diet provides a six-week fast food diet plan, along with dieting tips and practical information about making sensible fast food choices for kids, while traveling, for the holidays, at home and while shopping at the mall.
If you are a vegetarian, there is a plan for you as well. The low-calorie snacks section may surprise you. I found a number of snacks I did not even know existed.
As for exercise, it is all about walking. The walking plan is easy to follow. Overall, it is a great good book – it was an easy, informative and fun read. If you are not ready to give up your fast food, I believe this book could help people make “healthy” fast food choices and help lose weight.
