The Diet Code Diet: Lose Weight Da Vinci Style
When I first heard of “The Diet Code” and revolutionary weight loss secrets from Da Vinci my first thought was, “Did Dan Brown also uncover the vast, weight loss conspiracy of the century and I missed it somehow?” Nothing gets me going like a good weight loss conspiracy. Did Vatican conspire with FDA to keep the holy grail of weight loss secret locked up forever in its volts? The possibilities seemed endless and I was very excited.
It did not take long for me to realize what had actually happened. Da Vinci Diet was a work of a baker who lost a significant amount of his business, because of low-carb conscious consumers. The diet consists mostly of Mediterranean foods. Golden Ratio also known as Phi, a mathematical value allegedly used to build pyramids is part of the diet as well.
Okay, so it does not look like there is a conspiracy, but pyramids and Golden Ratio somehow connected to a weight loss secret sounds a little mysterious and kept my hopes up. I was willing to give a baker the benefit of the doubt. I continued to read in hopes of finally discovering allusive secret of weight loss.
When I got to the specifics and realized what this diet is all about: 20 % protein, 52% carbs and 28% fat. In other words, it is high in carbohydrates and low in protein and fat.
“The Diet Code” also recommends choosing foods by asking yourself, What would Leonardo eat? It is not clear why would anyone want to ask this question. Whatever Leonardo ate his physical appearance hardly resembled Michelangelo’s David, nor was he known for his nutritional wisdom.
In the final analysis, the book was entertaining and an easy read. It could be useful for someone who enjoys Mediterranean foods and like to explore different ways to lose weight.
Have you tried “The Diet Code” or a similiar diet? I would like to hear your experience.
