The Deadly Diet
Parents can play a very important role in helping their children overcome a potential eating disorder, says Dr. Terry Sandbek, author of The Deadly Diet: Recovering from Anorexia & Bulimia.
“Moms can look at their daughters and can tell if they put on half a pound,” he notes. “The first step is to bring the problem out in the open.
Then, give loving and caring feedback. Provide numbers, go to therapy with them and, at all costs, avoid being judgmental.”
