The Beauty Diet

The Beauty Diet

The Beauty Diet by Lisa Drayer.

Can The Beauty Diet make you beautiful? While I agree with The Beauty Diet on a number of points – one of them being that true beauty begins within – I am not sure the so-called “beauty foods” described in the book have been proven to provide any benefits, apart from those that are already known.

The Beauty Diet reveals the top 10 “beauty foods” that can supposedly result in better skin, hair, teeth, eyes, and nails – and promote weight loss. Weight-loss foods? No, Drayer is not talking about a weight-loss soup, but the book does repeat a number of myths that have been debunked like 10 years ago.

In addition, the book favors a diet high in carbohydrates, the good kind. Still, even if you include healthy carbs in your diet, I do not see any reason to keep your protein intake low. Assuming you are on a 1,500 calories a day diet, The Beauty Diet recommends that only 25 percent of your daily calories come from protein, which is too low in my opinion.

Having said that, my overall impression of the book is positive. It makes a strong case for eating healthy foods and choosing a balanced diet. It can probably help you lose some weight, too. The Beauty Diet includes recipes for tasty meals and snacks based on the top 10 and a lifestyle plan for staying fit.
