Cold Weather Germs Bundling up in the winter months may keep you warm, but it won’t prevent you from getting sick. Scientific evidence has shown that germs cause disease, not cold air.

Warm environments are actually a much more prolific breeding ground for bacteria and viruses. The main reason most of us get sick during the cold weather months is because we are spending more time indoors breathing air filled with everyone else’s germs.

The 20/20 Carrot “Eating more carrots won’t help you to read fine print or see better in the dark,” says Dr. Michael F. Marmor, professor of ophthalmology at Stanford University School of Medicine.

This myth is thought to be started by British intelligence during World War II. Trying to hide their use of radar to spot German planes, Britain spread the idea that they were feeding their pilots carrots to give them sharper vision.

Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which your liver converts to vitamin A and is a nutrient important to maintaining proper eyesight, but not improving it.
