Does the Taco Bell Diet work? Does the Taco Bell Drive-Thru Diet work? Can it help you lose, say, 10 pounds in 3 days? What is the difference between the Taco Bell Diet and the Taco Bell Drive-Thru Diet? It is kind of difficult to take this diet seriously in light of what happened to Jared Fogle, the Subway weight-loss spokesperson who now appears to be fat. On second thought, it is hard to take any diet that consists of eating junk food seriously.

But the question is: Does the Drive-Thru diet work? Of course it does. It does not seem to work very well, but it does seem to work, at least according to Christine Dougherty, a new spokesperson for Taco Bell. She claims she has lost 54 pounds in about two years on the so-called Taco Bell Diet. The Taco Bell Diet and the Drive-Thru Diet is the same thing by the way.

So if this diet works and you can lose weight on it, what is my beef with this diet? First of all, it is great that she lost 54 pounds, but two years is a very long time. I bet she could lose the same amount of weight faster by simply eating real food. Second, she lost weight because she has dramatically decreased her daily calorie consumption. She was consuming only 1,250 calories a day. Theoretically, if you limit your daily calorie consumption to about 1,200 calories, you can lose weight by eating ice cream.

I mean, losing weight is difficult enough, why make things even more complicated? Most people want to lose weight because they want to improve their overall health. The best way to accomplish this is by eating nutritious foods, not highly processed fast food. Sure, you can lose weight on the Taco Bell Diet, you can lose weight on the Burger Diet and Fries diet, too, but if you want to be healthy, it goes without saying that it is prudent to focus on eating vegetables, lean proteins, healthy fats, and fruit.
