Sugar Alternative: Agave nectar
Brand name: Organic Blue Agave Nectar
What is it? A syrup derived from the same Mexican plant that spawns tequila.
How does it taste? Like honey. It’s four times sweeter than table sugar.
Nutrition facts: Contains 60 calories per tablespoon but is mostly fructose, a sugar that has little impact on blood sugar.
The bottom line: It’s very similar to honey, which is also natural yet cheaper and easier to find.
