Stop Eating Bread

Is high-intensity cardio good for weight loss? More specifically, I am 25 years old, 140 lbs (5′9”), and looking to lose those last couple of lbs for more definition, and I am finding it difficult with my exercise program. I normally do 45 minutes of very high intensity cardio (my heart rate is around 170-180 bpm) and 15 minutes of weights or ab workouts everyday. Is there a problem with working out the way I do? Should I do more strength training? Do I need to stop eating bread? Megan. Thanks! [via Ask Questions]

Do you need to stop eating bread? I do not know if you need to stop eating bread. What kind of bread do you eat, and how much of it? If you eat white bread, yes, you need to stop eating bread. If you eat fiber-rich bread made from whole grains, I do not see a problem with it.

Try it – stop eating bread for a few weeks and see what happens, but there is nothing wrong with eating quality bread in moderation. Since you only need to lose a few pounds, try the calorie-shifting diet tricks.

High-intensity cardio is great for weight loss. Your exercise program seems to be good, but 45 minutes of intense cardio is an overkill for most people. I think you need to switch things around for a change. Yes, you should do more strength training. Do more weights and less cardio, and keep your workouts under an hour.
