Slentrol (dirlotapide) Weight Loss Drug Approved
Slentrol (a.k.a. dirlotapide) is a weight loss drug that decreases appetite and fat absorption.
It is designed to help obese and overweight – wait for it – dogs lose weight.
That’s right, now dogs with a weight problem will be using weight loss drugs to lose weight. How sad is that? As a dog owner, I am speechless.
Yesterday, despite troubling side effects – such as vomiting, loose stools, diarrhea and lethargy – the FDA approved Slentrol for use in dogs only.
It seems, until Pfizer or some other pharmaceutical company develops a drug for obese cats, they will have to rely on dieting and exercise to lose weight.
Tip: Research shows that dog owners who need to shed some pounds can lose weight without dieting.
