Sleep: Lose Weight

Sleep: Lose Weight

According to a number of recent studies, if you do not sleep enough, there is a good chance that you may lose your ability to lose weight. Data from these studies shows that people who sleep only five hours are more likely to gain weight (we are talking over 30 pounds or more!) and some people are more likely to be obese, than those who sleep at least seven hours each night.

Additionally, another recent study looked at almost 750 women for a 10-year period and found that those who slept 6 to 7 hours a night were 11 pounds heavier than those who were in dreamland for 7 to 8 hours.

So what is going here and how does sleep affect weight loss? Experts involved in these studies seem to think that extra sleep may increase the levels of a hunger-suppressing hormone called leptin.
