SensorfreshQ: Meat & Poultry Tester

SensorfreshQ: Meat & Poultry TesterTo be fit and healthy, choosing the healthiest meat and knowing your best protein sources is obviously important.

You go to a store, thinking that you are well informed to fulfill your carnivorous dream - a juicy steak - - or maybe, you are just after a tasty chicken. Then, you realize, that despite your nutritional knowledge, there is one variable, which could be a little tricky to figure out – freshness.

How do you know if what you just purchased is fresh? I guess there is no way to be sure, unless you can actually test your meat and poultry. Personally, I am satisfied with unscientific smell test, and the “sell by” dates seem to provide additional insurance.

If you happen to think that this is not enough – SensorfreshQ could give you a peace of mind.

The SensorfreshQ is a gadget made by the Sharper Image, which uses sophisticated technology to “smell your meat or poultry. With a push of a button, a three level color system will signal if your raw meat/poultry is safe to eat.

If a green LED lights up, you are good to go; yellow means safe for about a day; and red is a clear candidate for a trashcan. All that “sniffing” is not cost or maintains free, which means that eventually, a sensor in the SensorfreshQ needs to be replaced.

According to the Sharper Image, included sensor [the QCard] lasts for about two month, or 200 readings. When it runs out, the SensorfreshQ signals to replace it. (via Coolest Gadgets)
