Much like the Metabolism Diet, the Scarsdale Diet plan uses a similar meal plan involving less than the recommended amount of water (four glasses a day, instead of eight).

The diet created by Dr. Herman Tarnower, is also a precursor to the highly popular low carbohydrate, low calorie diets that have taken the country by storm.

One interesting tidbit is both diets say you can top your meals with as much salt, pepper, vinegar, lemon, mustard and ketchup, among others, as you want. Unfortunately the only weight lost is water, and it’s extremely unhealthy.
