Right Amount of Calories to Lose Weight
I am 43 and workout 4-5 days a week doing spinning, elliptical, weights, Pilates, interval training. I really mix it up. I am 180 lbs and I consume 1300-1400 calories a day (healthy, clean, organic food). I am not able to lose weight and have had an endo. Check all my hormones over the last year. Everything is fine. I am wondering if I am eating the right amount of calories? I’d like to get down to 125. Lisa. [via Ask Questions]
First of all, since you want to lose 55 pounds, I think you will find the following posts helpful: How to Lose 50 Pounds and How to Lose 60 Pounds.
Second, you seem to be doing everything right. You might want to try something like the calorie-shifting diet technique, which can be used to break a weight-loss plateau, but I have a feeling that the issue has to do with something else, which brings me to this question: Are you absolutely sure that you are in fact eating between 1,300 and 1,400 calories every day?
Research has repeatedly shown that most people tend to underestimate their daily calorie consumption, by a lot in some cases. I think you need to double check how many calories you consume every day. To do that, every day for one week, write down everything you eat, and I mean everything without any exceptions. If you get the same number of calories, let me know and will go from there. If not, make an effort to eat around 1,400 calories each day.
