Oprah Winfrey Detox DietHave you heard about Oprah Winfrey’s detox diet? See, even Oprah falls for diet fads. Detox diets and cleanses are useless and potentially dangerous. Still, Oprah is detoxing via a 21-day vegan diet that bans not only animal products but also sugar, alcohol, caffeine and gluten.

I am all for eliminating sugar and gluten from a diet, but what is wrong with animal products, caffeine and alcohol, in moderation, of course? Nothing!

Oprah claims that she was inspired to become a more conscious eater after reading spiritual guru Kathy Freston’s book Quantum Wellness, which details the diet. More conscious eater? What does it mean? Has Oprah been eating while being unconscious prior to reading the book?

“This 21-day cleanse gives me a chance to think about [eating] differently and see what my attachments are to certain kinds of foods – and what I’m willing to do to change. “Don’t know if I’m going to feel better or worse, but I’m willing to try to see if my body at least feels differently,” Winfrey blogged on her Web site.

Oprah Winfrey’s detox diet plan What are the benefits of the plant-based diet? None, as far as I am concerned.

But according to Quantum Wellness, the benefit is this: “If you do this once a year, it gives the body a chance not only to do the deep cleansing work, but to reset cravings.” There is just one problem, there is no such thing as “deep cleansing.” [via]
