Onions Fight Cancer
They might make you tear up, but they’re on your side: Onions may protect you against cancer, according to a recent study in the American journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Surveys done in Italy and Switzerland found adults who ate onions seven or more times a week had less than half the chance of developing colon cancer than people who didn’t eat onions.
Research also showed people who ate the veggie had lower odds of developing ovarian, mouth, and other cancers. The benefits might be linked to all their antioxidants.
Or it could be that people who eat onions also tend to eat other healthy foods: They’re often cooked with cancer-fighters like tomatoes and olive oil. [source: Health]
