Metamucil Diet

Metamucil Diet

Continued from Metamucil’s Weight Loss.

The Metamucil Diet is overrated. Why? Because the Metamucil Diet makes a lot of promises that it cannot keep. Some say that the Metamucil Diet can help you lose weight, reduce bad cholesterol and lower your blood pressure, but are these claims supported by the scientific evidence?

The Metamucil Diet prescribes adding a lot of fiber to your diet, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, the Metamucil Diet calls for increasing your fiber intake with the help of fiber supplements.

So can the Metamucil Diet help you lose weight? No, not really. Let’s face it, fiber is overrated. If you eat fast food, for example, even if you add fiber to your diet, it is not going to help you lose weight, and it is not going to make your diet that much healthier.

Of course if you are not getting enough fiber, it is better to get at least some fiber from a quality fiber supplement than none at all. Having said that, the Metamucil Diet does not teach you which fruits and vegetables contain the most fiber. It does not tell you how you can improve or change your diet for the better – it just focuses on one small aspect of what makes a diet healthy.

In short, the Metamucil Diet has good intentions; it just uses the wrong tools to deliver on its premise. You cannot improve your diet with supplements. If you want to lose weight or maintain your health, stay away from fast food and focus on natural, whole foods.
