Maureen McCormick: Workout

Continued from Maureen McCormick: Diet Plan.
Did you stick to your exercise routine after Celebrity Fit Club? I stopped altogether, which was my biggest mistake. I need to start jogging again, though – that was a huge thing, doing the cardio.
I called my personal trainer, Brian Shiers, a few months ago. Now I see him twice a week for hour-long sessions. We don’t really use any machines. Everything is done naturally, which I love! At the end of the workout, I feel amazing.
What else are you doing for exercise? I’ve been jazz dancing two days a week. I might be going to Broadway to do Chicago next year. I went in and interviewed for Mama Morton, the big woman’s role. And they said, “No, we think you’re more Roxie Hart,” so I came back in and passed the singing and acting.
And they said, “You need some work on your dance,” so that’s what I’ve been doing. The class is two hours a week, kind of Bob Fosse-esque jazz – all of Chicago was choreographed by Fosse – so it’s been challenging.
Maureen McCormick’s Workout: Here is how she does it.
Warm up on the treadmill for 20 minutes to get her heart rate up.
Sit-ups and exercises to tighten the tummy.
Push-ups to strengthen her entire torso, including her shoulders, chest and back.
Fun kickboxing moves with Brian. “I feel like I’m kicking off the fat,” she says.
Yoga and Pilates moves that focus on balance.
