Maureen McCormick: Diet Plan
Continued from Maureen McCormick Gained Weight.
What’s your diet plan? I’m eating Susan’s Healthy Gourmet food again. It’s what I used on Celebrity Fit Club. I want to stick to that for life. They deliver food to your house.
It’s oatmeal, yogurt with fruit and granola, cottage cheese and cantaloupe or eggs for breakfast. For lunch, I love to eat these veggie burgers from Susan’s. I’m addicted, and I usually will take off the bun.
For dinner, I prefer eating salads with roasted vegetables. Sometimes I’ll have fruit, and veggie burger strips or tuna or chicken. It’s lighter, and you go to bed and feel like you’re shrinking your tummy a little, instead of eating a full meal. What made me go up to 154 pounds was that I used to eat pasta late at night with bread.
How does your husband, Michael Cummings, help with your diet? His weight always stays the same! It’s aggravating yet really great to live with someone like that because it helps me. He eats so healthy. He loves when I cook my turkey chili, and he loves eating veggie burgers with me.
How are you going to avoid holiday food temptations? Portion control is important. The best thing I think to do is just take one bite and enjoy it, and then stop instead of eating a whole dessert. Like last night, we had pumpkin pie because all my relatives were over – we had slivers. There were six of us, and we didn’t even finish half the pie.
What are your plans for Thanksgiving? My family and friends who don’t have families come over for the holidays. I’m cooking for 20 to 30 people this Thanksgiving, so I’m going to be making turkey, cranberry sauce, pearl onions, green beans and almonds, a salad, pumpkin pie and pecan pie. I make a lot of food. That will be my cheat day, but I’m not going to go crazy and fill myself up. That’s one thing I’ve learned, not to fill myself up until I get stuffed.
Do you have healthy alternatives to the holiday goodies? I love nuts, almonds especially. I always have them on hand. I’ll also have veggie sticks with hummus, which is a protein. It’s great because I already have stuff that’s sliced and diced up that I can eat when I’m hungry instead of reaching for chocolate, which I would usually do.
The best things to eat for snacks are fruits and vegetables throughout the day, and it’s really good to eat every few hours, just a little something.
