The host of the new weight loss show, Dance Your Ass Off, Marissa Jaret Winokur, seems like a great fit for something like this. What do you do for exercise? I love to dance as much as possible. I have lost 45 pounds that way; it changed my body. Then I lost 15 more when I did Dancing With the Stars, and then Zev was born. I put 25 pounds back on because of life and then when I started doing the show I decided to get back on track. So I lost 15 now, and I am on the dance kick and trying to do what we talk about on the show.
Do you weigh yourself on the show, too? If I had to get on a scale I would not do this! The contestants are so much braver than I am. I would love the performing part, but I could never get on the scale. But they love it – they want to see if their work paid off for the week.
What about your diet? I am counting my calories – the same thing people do on the show. The show lasted 10 weeks and I got completely jealous of the contestants. I thought: “They’re doing so good, what am I doing?”
Do you feel Hollywood’s pressure to get skinny? No. I am always going to be a character actress – I am always going to be the girl who looks like every girl out there. I am what everyone looks like. And that is who my audience is. And that is why I am doing DYAO [Dance Your Ass Off] – the people who watch it are the people I care about. Hopefully, they are people we are opening up to a world of dance. It sounds so cliche, but you do not have to be a size 2 to love dancing and to look good doing it. [via]
