Not so much. Though she’s always rocked a toned, taut body, the Material Mom, 48, looks leaner and meaner than ever as she has recently flaunted scarily sinewy arms.

And while it’s no secret that Madonna is a devotee of a variety of workouts, including Power Plate, yoga and gyrotonics, there is such a thing as overkill.

“She’s too overdeveloped,” says fitness expert Edward Jackowski, Ph.D., noting that because Madonna has very low body fat (she follows a superhealthy, organic, macrobiotic diet), her muscles protrude more than they would if she had a bit more meat on her bones.

Dr. Jackowski thinks her bulging arm muscles are the result of doing lots of bench presses as well as weights with hand grips, which strengthen hands, wrists and forearms. “She should be working out less,” advises Dr. Jackowski.

“She’s an entertainer, not a construction worker,” he says. “Does she need [those muscles] to perform her craft? Absolutely not. The word is obsessive.” [via]
