Liquid Calories: Weight Loss
Liquid calories and weight loss do not mix very well. A Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino can top out at 380 calories, but to your brain, it is only as satisfying as a glass of juice.
While solid food has distinct tastes, textures, and smells that help you feel sated, beverages often do not, say researchers at Purdue University.
So even when you have downed the equivalent of an entire meal in a single glass, your body does not believe it is full, a protein drink is an exception from this rule, of course.
The bottom line Quench your thirst with water, seltzer, or iced tea instead – and save your calories for foods your body and mind will be happy with. [via Shape]
