Lift Heavy, Bulk Up?
Claim: An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Dr. Brent A. Bauer from the Mayo Clinic says, “Studies have shown that increasing fruit dramatically reduces the risk of a number of illnesses.”
But don’t be fooled! There’s nothing magical about an apple.
Claim: If you lift heavy weights, you’ll bulk up. Nick D’Atellis, a private trainer at the Reebok Sports Club/NY, explains, “You have to train a certain way and eat a certain way in order to bulk up.” So stop worrying. You can work out as hard as you want because unless you’re predisposed to it, you won’t bulk up.
Claim: Sleeping with makeup can cause wrinkles. Whether it’s due to laziness or exhaustion, aesthetician Mzia Shiman of OC 61 Salon in NYC says that “sleeping in your makeup is a total no-no.” Although it doesn’t cause wrinkles, “it prevents the skin from breathing and clogs up pores.” Clean skin is the only way to get that youthful glow.
