Lemon Juice Diet

Lemon Juice Diet

Do we really need another lemon juice diet? Can The Lemon Juice Diet help you lose some weight in just a couple of days? Is The Lemon Juice Diet safe? Assuming The Lemon Juice Diet can produce some quick weight loss results, should you actually try it? What do I think about The Lemon Juice Diet?

Frankly, I want to hate it. I really do. Why? Because even a homeless dog probably knows by now that a typical lemon diet cleanse is just a fad. But The Lemon Juice Diet is a little different, it is not horrible and it is far from perfect, but compared to other lemon juice diets, this diet is not scary and deserves some attention.

So how does The Lemon Juice Diet work? Theresa Cheung, author of The Lemon Juice Diet, says to start with a cleanse that involves four servings of lemonade (2 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice, 10 oz. water, 1 tsp. maple syrup and a pinch of cayenne pepper) throughout the day – the first at least 30 minutes before breakfast, which should be a mix of fruits, yogurt and almonds.

Have a lunch of bean salad with lemon juice, balsamic vinegar and olive oil and a dinner of 6 ounces of grilled fish with lemon and steamed veggies. Fill in the gaps with raw veggies, seeds, nuts and a banana.

The Lemon Juice Diet does include a lemonade-based cleanse, which is disappointing. In my opinion, a combination of lemon juice, water, sugar and pepper does not cleanse anything, and this mix does not aid weight loss or fat burning. Having said that, let’s be patient because other components of this diet are okay, sort of.

Here is the rest of the plan:

Breakfast Continue revving up 30 minutes before mealtime with a glass of lemonade (according to The Lemon Juice Diet, it aids in digestion) and then have some fresh berries (which are rich in nutrients), organic yogurt and raw almonds.

Snack Twice a day, drink a glass of lemonade followed 10 minutes later with a banana and a handful of pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds, a handful of dried fruit and nuts or veggie sticks with low-fat hummus.

Lunch Eat heaping mixed-green-bean salad or lentil salad dressed with lemon juice, balsamic vinegar and extra-virgin olive oil. Or have a cucumber- and smoked-salmon sandwich on whole wheat bread with cheese and a side of yogurt.

Dinner A piece of grilled tuna with steamed veggies, including onions, will give the body protein and essential fatty acids. Fish can be substituted with tofu and avocado.

The bottom line on The Lemon Juice Diet So can you lose weight on this diet? Probably. As you can see, except dinner, you are not ingesting many calories and that is where the weight loss comes from, not from some fat-burning properties of lemonade cleanse. [via]
