Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats

Kellogg's Rice Krispies Treats

As you can see from the above Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats ad, they still contain only 90 calories per serving. One serving of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats is one bar. Sounds good, right? Well, not exactly.

First of all, I do not understand why they seem to be saying that one serving (or what they call “Dietary Exchange Per Serving”) contains only 1 carbohydrate. According to the Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats nutrition facts, one bar contains 17 grams of carbs and 7 grams of sugar.

Second, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats list of ingredients looks rather scary: sugar, high fructose corn syrup, sugar again, corn syrup again, margarine, artificial butter flavors, etc. It is not a complete list; the complete list contains over 20 ingredients, most of which sound as if they were pulled from a pharmaceutical shelf.
