It is hard to believe that just two weeks ago, the 29-year-old, 5′6″ Hudson was fending off baby bump rumors after gaining weight and going up to an estimated 130 pounds. While Kate’s weight loss was rapid, a friend reveals that looking good does not come as easily for Kate as it used to.

“Kate hated that people thought she was pregnant,” says her pal. “She has been stick-thin most of her life, and didn’t like having to deal with being perceived as overweight.” While her friend attributes Kate’s curvier figure to “a few too many Mexican meals,” Kate took the pregnancy rumors to heart.

“She’s older now and her metabolism has changed, so now she has to watch what she eats,” the pal says. It is common for women who have never dieted before to suddenly need to count calories around age 30, explains Keri Glassman, founder of A Nutritious Life.
