Here’s what he tells people to keep in mind:
−Motivation comes from within. You can’t be dependent on your parents, doctor, or your spouse to want this for you. Motivation to lose weight needs to come from within. If it doesn’t, you set yourself up for failure.
−Nothing happens overnight. We live in a country where people want instant results. You didn’t put on the weight overnight, so it won’t come off that fast either. Weight loss takes time.
−Different things work for different people. There are a million ways to lose weight. What works for someone else might not work for you. Keep trying until you find what works for you.
−A healthy lifestyle contributes to weight loss. Weight loss isn’t just about eating less calories or skipping high-fat foods. Eating healthfully and exercising regularly are just as important.
−Maintaining weight loss relies on a lifelong change. You can’t look at the steps you take as a diet. If you do, you’ll put the weight back on once you’ve lost it. You need to look at your weight loss as a lifestyle change.
