Jalapenos: Salmonella
Continued from Salmonella in Tomatoes.
This is just a mini update on the recent salmonella scare.
As the FDA has suspected practically from the beginning, a recent salmonella outbreak is not limited to tomatoes. Salmonella now has been confirmed in jalapenos. Tomatoes seem to be off the hook for now, but salmonella in jalapenos seems to be even more dangerous.
Why? While the FDA says that they have found salmonella in a Mexican-grown jalapeno in a Texas plant, it is hard to pinpoint an exact route by which it has spread.
The bottom line: Stay away from jalapenos for now. Salmonella is not something you want to play around with.
