Infertility Diet

According to physician and holistic health counselor Dr. Samina Ahmad, “Diet requires major attention when a woman is trying to get pregnant.” Whether you are trying natural conception or getting IVF treatments, Dr. Ahmad gives some suggestions for what hopeful moms should be eating on the infertility diet.

The Infertility Diet

Fruits and veggies Always eat fruits in their whole form and try to buy organic whenever possible. It is easiest to digest fruit on an empty stomach, so eat fruit by itself as a snack.

Calcium Try to get calcium from almonds, broccoli and bok choy.

Caffeine free To improve chances of your infertility diet being successful, you should avoid caffeine, which can be found in coffee, black tea, green tea, soft drinks, cocoa and many over-the-counter pharmaceuticals.

Good fats Load up on healthy fats that come from olive oil, flax, avocados and fish oil.

Supplements In addition to your multivitamin, take folic acid for cellular replication, vitamin E for increased fertility, and iron to combat iron deficiency which has been linked to infertility. [source: OK!]
